Rohilkhand University Holds Drawing and Painting Competition During Indian Space Week

Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, is organising a series of activities and competitions as part of Indian Space Week from August 12 to 18, 2026. As part of the celebrations, a drawing and painting competition was organised for students on Monday, encouraging them to explore themes related to space science, emerging technologies and India’s scientific progress.

Students were invited to create artworks on themes including “Drone Technology and Developed India,” “Independence Day and India’s Scientific and Technological Progress,” and “Space and Modern Technology.” Participants displayed their creativity by connecting drone technology with the spirit of Independence Day and India’s achievements in science and technology.

Through colours, lines and imaginative compositions, students portrayed India’s technological advancement, the growing applications of drones and the national spirit associated with Independence Day. Several artworks featured the Tricolour, spacecraft, drones, satellites and visions of a developed India, bringing together science, technology and patriotism.

The competition aimed to promote scientific temper, creative expression, technological awareness and a spirit of innovation among students. It also sought to familiarise them with India’s progress in space and modern technology while encouraging a sense of pride and responsibility towards the country’s scientific and technological development.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh said Indian Space Week was providing students with an important opportunity to learn about India’s achievements in space as well as various dimensions of modern science and technology. He noted that drone technology is increasingly proving useful in agriculture, disaster management, surveying, security, healthcare, communications and several other sectors.

Singh said greater awareness of such technologies could open new avenues for innovation and research among students. Linking scientific and technological achievements with creative activities during Independence Day, he added, would further strengthen the spirit of nation-building among young people.

Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey said activities such as drawing and painting provide students with an opportunity to express their imagination and original ideas. The competitions organised under Indian Space Week are also helping generate interest among students in space science, drone technology, research and innovation.

She said connecting these themes with the spirit of Independence Day would help students understand the important role science and technology have played in the progress of independent India and the significant contribution that the younger generation can make to the country’s future.

Registrar Mahendra Singh, Cultural Coordinator Dr Jyoti Pandey, Dr Reena Pant, other faculty members, staff and members of the Cultural Club contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

Students including Aryan Sharma, Anushka, Aditya, Priyanshi, Arpit, Kritika, Tanishk, Sakshi, Aarav, Nandini, Harshit, Khushi, Riya, Ayush, Palak, Shivansh, Anjali, Vaishnavi, Bhavleen, Abhishek and Shruti participated enthusiastically in the competition.

The competition provided students with a platform to combine scientific awareness, creativity, technological curiosity, patriotism and an interest in research and innovation. The event also highlighted the important role young talent can play in advancing India’s scientific and technological capabilities.
